Teachers use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching and learning, and technology to facilitate experiences that advance student learning, creativity and innovation in both face-to-face and virtual environments.
- Promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness
- Engage students in exploring real-world issues and solving authentic problems using digital tools and resources
- Promote student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students' conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and creative processes
- Model collaborative knowledge construction by engaging in learning with students, colleagues, and others in face-to-face and virtual environments.
Reflection:
This standard gives parameters for student learning. Students are to have creative opportunities to demonstrate learning. Offering constructivist strategies for learning is a key component of this standard. Students will be expected to apply real-world experiences with and through digital platforms. Learning is facilitated between facilitator and student through technology integration.
Artifacts - Reflections:
Scoop. It - This application is a content curator platform that both receives and shares news, research, stories. It allows teachers and students to compile articles on specific topics. This aftifact inspires creative thought among students. Real-world situations may be further explored by reading and reflecting on the topics introduced. I located real-world articles tied to Fahrenheit 451, a novel unit that I teach to high school English students. The articles that I curated teach students about current movies with dystopian settings. Another article suggests that libraries should continue to increase with technology integration. These articles are excellent for the dystopian novel that we study. This standard is met by my compilation of interesting digital articles to share with my students. Students will be inspired to read and explore more articles online tied to thematic elements of our novel unit.
Fahrenheit 451 Flipped Classroom Site - This is my website designed for IT-645 under the guidance of Dr. Shuyan Wang. The site has several pages with novel activities. Students may access the digital files, presentations, and hyperlinks to learn as they read the novel, Fahrenheit 451. The site meets all technology standards; however, I believe it first and foremost inspires student creativity with technology as required by Standard 1. I tested the site with my current English students, and they were engaged through digital learning and group collaborations. Again, this meets the requirements of Standard 1.
Fahrenheit 451 Presentation - I created this presentation with Google Docs. I also shared this slide show with my English students. Students could access the presentation from their iPads. Embedded in certain slides are videos to help explain the main slide points. This project not only inspired me to find creative methods for teaching with technology, but it also made teaching fun. The students enjoyed the video clips and shared their analytic interpretations of a dystopian society, even in a cartoon clip. After watching clips inside a digital powerpoint, students responded with their reflections through e-mail. Again, this meets the requirements of Standard 1. Students were engaged in the digital learning experience, and they responded with technology.

Future Learning Goals:
I am currently a high school English teacher with the 1:1 iPad program. Technology integration has emerged as the foundation for my instruction. I am intentional with aligning English curriculum standards with digital strategies. I look forward to designing courses that align to instructional goals. By assessing my students through a needs analysis, I may choose appropriate applications that will enhance my students' learning. As an educator, I also would like to research technology tools to further my facilitating experiences.
