Teachers understand local and global societal issues and responsibilities in an evolving digital culture and exhibit legal and ethical behavior in their professional practices.
- Advocate, model, and teach safe, legal and ethical use of digital information and technology, including respect for copyright, intellectual property, and the appropriate document of sources.
- Address the diverse needs of all learners by using learner-centered strategies providing equitable access to appropriate digital tools and resources.
- Promote and model digital etiquette and responsible social interactions related to the use of technology and information
- Develop and model cultural understanding and global awareness by engaging with colleagues and students of other cultures using digital age communication and collaboration tools.
Reflection:
Standard 4 requires copyright accuracy with technology integration. All stakeholders including educational entities must respect all intellectual property with instructional design and application. Digital etiquette is mandated with collaborative efforts, whether they are local or global exchange of ideas. Digital tools and resources may be accessed for specific diverse needs analysis.
Artifacts - Reflection:
Online Collaboration in Digital Learning Paper - The paper provides research on considerations for and against online collaborative groups. Recognizing difficulties with assigning groups is helpful for successful collaborative learning. Identifying particular course project roles that focus on student strengths helps facilitate pleasant working environments. Since most online students work behind screens as opposed to blended environments, it is important to consider group arrangements based cultural and technological needs. This paper helps educators promote and model responsible social interactions between students. This artifact is an example of Standard 4.
Digital Publishing & Visual Design Website - I designed several projects using both Canva and Lucidpress based on the principles of design. The projects were linked to my digital publishing and visual design website. It was important that I gave appropriate credit for any artwork created by others digitally. By creating work that was completely my original inspirations with software that allowed for pre-made materials, I demonstrated Standard 4. This assignment showed a respect for copyright and intellectual property.
My Canvas Designed Course - This course presents several activities and assessments that meet the diverse needs of digital students. Assignments may be downloaded or read on a computer screen. Assessments may be through the Canvas testing area or by a printed test. The course may be taken online independently or remotely. The course meets Standard 4 by addressing the diverse needs of learners. Additionally, as students worked through my course, they conducted themselves with responsible social interactions and global awareness. This further meets the requirements of Standard 4.

Future Learning Goals: As an educator, I look forward to helping my students not only learn in my traditional classroom setting but also remotely. Students may work collaboratively with students from all areas of the world. By connecting with educators at different schools globally, my students can participate in online experiences that will give them different perspectives to their work. It is important that students are prepared to work with students traditionally and online, recognizing digital netiquette. Knowing the online parameters for respectful sharing of ideas electronically benefits all learners. I would like to continue teaching digital citizenship classes. I would also like to further research and write content to inform parents of the importance of healthy digital citizenship.
